The second exercise is known as “off-page” search engine optimization. This process demonstrates authority of your page to the search engines based on the quality and type of links from other websites back to your page.
The more “votes” for your page from other sites that the search engines feel are authoritative, the more authority the search engines will give to your page over time.
“Off-page” optimization is an ongoing process, dependent on the level of competition in your market for your target keywords and the number of target keywords that you want to dominate.
